Metsä Fibre’s Joutseno mill directs its side streams for further processing 

The side streams generated through pulp production are a valuable raw material for new products and reuse. Metsä Fibre has signed agreements with Ekokem and Kekkilä concerning the utilisation of the organic by-products of its pulp production, such as bark sand, in landscaping products and soil improvement. Through the end product, the side streams of Finnish forests once regarded as waste will be circulated back to serve as vital breeding ground for new growth, thus saving natural resources.
