One project at a time towards energy self-sufficiency
NORDI OY IS A FINNISH RENEWABLE ENERGY COMPANY. THE COMPANY IS ACCELERATING THE ENERGY TRANSITION AND BUILDING A MORE ENERGY-SELF-SUFFICIENT FINLAND BY DEVELOPING WIND AND SOLAR POWER PROJECTS.
Electricity consumption in Finland and the Nordic countries is constantly increasing. At the same time, electricity production must become emission-free. Research shows that wind power is the cheapest form of electricity production.
– Wind power is not only the most cost-effective but also the most desirable form of electricity production among Finns after solar power, says Piia Heikkinen, the company’s CEO.
Nordi is involved in the development of renewable energy projects around Finland. Property taxes on wind turbines are paid to the municipality where the turbines are located, and landowners are paid rent in the areas of the wind farms. It is important for the company that the local community participates in planning the wind power projects and benefits from wind power.
– We are looking for areas suitable for wind power production to start project development, which includes, for example, the planning process, environmental impact assessment and technical design before the actual construction, says Heikkinen.
– We are genuinely interested in the local community and want to work closely with the community wherever the projects take us. We aim to use local partners as much as possible and to support the local communities in the project area.
Nordi is part of the Nordic Vanir Green Industries business cluster. Vanir includes industrial companies that need a lot of renewable energy, and renewable energy companies such as Nordi, which develop renewable energy projects and enable the use of clean energy in industry.
– Nordi people are easy to collaborate with. We carry out our projects smoothly, agilely and flexibly in a relaxed, no-nonsense manner.
